Don’t Shy Away From Summer Makeup…..Learn My Tips Instead!
Prep Your Canvas~Before applying any makeup, it’s crucial to prep your skin for the hot weather. Start by cleansing your face thoroughly to remove any dirt or excess oil. Follow up with a lightweight moisturizer with SPF to protect your skin from the harmful sun. Opt for oil-free or gel-based moisturizers to prevent clogged pores. This step will provide a smooth base for your makeup application.
This step is super important, so don’t skip it. I know some of you have a time-crunched lifestyle, but only-got-a-moment feminine beauty can make a big difference, your skin prep being one of them!
Lighten Up Your Base~During the summer, heavy foundations can feel suffocating. Let your skin breathe and go for a lighter alternative. Look for a lightweight foundation or tinted moisturizer that’s oil-free or water-based specifically designed to handle the summer heat. Apply with a sponge for an airbrushed finish.Say No to Shine~Set your makeup with a translucent powder and brush. Pro tip: Later in the day when you see some oil making your skin shiny, don’t worry about those fancy blotting papers that some magazines will say you need. Any public restroom will have a toilet seat liner, which is the same damn thing. Blot oil to get rid of that shine and follow up with a pressed powder compact to touch-up on the go.

Water-Resistant Eye Makeup~Want your eyes to be the star of the show without turning into a raccoon by noon? Waterproof is the name of the game, babe! To summer-proof those eyes, start with an eyeshadow primer to help your eyeshadow last longer. Opt for waterproof or long-wearing eyeliners and mascaras to prevent smudging and running. No powder shadows that can settle into creases. Cream eyeshadows or eyeshadow sticks are more resistant to the summer’s sweaty, gross shenanigans. By the way, if you need a little help with those eyebrows to really make those eyes pop, check out my blog ‘Feminine Eyebrows For A More Feminine Face!’
Go for Minimal Lips And Cheeks~Bold, heavy lipsticks can feel heavy and sticky in the summer. Embrace a more natural and lightweight approach by choosing tinted lip balms, lip stains, or sheer lip glosses. Don’t forget to apply a lip balm with SPF to protect your lips from the sun’s harmful rays. And try cream blush instead of powder, which can streak in hot weather. Blend and think natural!
The Final Step
Set Your Makeup~To ensure your makeup stays intact throughout the day, a setting spray will help lock in your makeup, increase its longevity, and provide a refreshing feel. Look for sprays that offer oil control and a cooling effect, making them perfect for hot summer days. Mist it over your face after completing your makeup and carry it in your bag for a quick refresh when needed.Makeup is fun, no matter the season. The trick is to be adaptable and make it work for you. By the way, if you’re confused on what colors to choose, I talked about that way back when and my advice on that is timeless!
