Summer is a bold time for fashion and make-up. Beach parties, bonfires, sexy evenings….it’s a ‘seen and be-seen’ kind of time. And people remember what they see. But make-up has to be different in the summer because it will slide right off. No more heavy layers or extended application sessions. This is the time to minimize your routine, cut down on products, maybe break up with some make-up and make what you do use really count.

Summer Make-up, Simplified

Foundation? Forget it. — It’s a struggle to stay cool in summer. Why clog pores with heavy products? Some of you may only need a concealer and powder as a base, but for those of you that can’t say goodbye to foundation, go for a CC cream instead. CC means ‘color correcting’, so if you’ve got uneven skin tone or redness, CC is great. Lighter than foundation, it can have a suncreen built in. Dust with a loose powder and you’re done.

The eyes have it.— Eyeshadows need to be a little different in summer, too. Dry powder-y formulas can settle into creases thanks to warm weather and skin that’s trying to cool down. Try cream shades that you can wear alone or use as a base for powder shadow. The moist bottom layer will help the powder shadow to adhere and separate less. Dazzling eyes for when you’re out en femme!

Mascaras and liners? Get good, no-run products. Waterproof if you’re a swimmer or a hot weather exercise junkie. Eyebrows? There are some great brow gels out there, although brow crayons and pencils can look great if you have a gentle hand.

Get cheeky.— You may not need blush at all. Summer gives you color whether you like it or not, because you’re probably not wearing sunscreen all the time. Blush can easily be skipped and one less product you need for a while.

Love your lips.— When it comes to lips in summer, you can get a little wild. Glosses and stains are hot this season. Pop a few shades in your sissy purse and always have a perfect pout!

Trendy, Trendy!

One specific look that’s hot right now for summer is the 80’s throwback. This means pretty pink lips with some bright shades around the eyes. Now, not all of you can rock bright shadow and that’s ok. Experiment with color mascara and bright eye liner to make eyes pop! I am loving my blue and green mascara right now and get compliments when I wear it.
