Summer is a fun time to get outdoors, spend time with friends and enjoy some fantastic BBQ. However, when it comes to summer make-up, you need a change. Going bare-faced won’t work because you still want to be presentable and not look like sweaty farmhand, but this is also not the time for heavy creams, mutiple products in the morning or pore-clogging crap on your face. So what’s the solution? Just like everything else, it’s a balance. Still confused? Sissies and cross dresssers that love girly products and pretty make-up, take heart. This is your summer make-up guide and it will last all season long.

Make-up that’s just right for summer

Whether you are going out en femme on a sexy summer night or just heading to the store for some ice cream, these pared-down cosmetic tips straight from my vanity table will be just what you need.

Face

Concealer— Keep your concealer. You still need it, regardless of the season.

Foundation— No heavy base foundations. It’s like a mask in summer and you’re just going to sweat it off. Go for a tinted, oil-free moisturizer BB cream. You’ll get the coverage you want, and your skin will breathe.

Powder— Finish with a translucent loose powder and a big fluffy brush. Why translucent? You don’t want to get streak-y when you sweat in colored powder, and you’ll avoid that orange-y oompa loompa look, too.

Cheeks— Retire your blush for a few months and try a bronzer instead. Use a large brush and a light hand to add some shimmer.

Eyes

Shadow— Stay away from dry and powdery shadow that will likely settle into creases when your face gets hot. Instead, go for creamy eye crayons and glittery sticks of color. Easier to put on (no brushes), and all you need is a swipe or two. Thin tip, fat tip….mix it up!

make-up

Keep your pout polished and summer-perfect!

Right now, I have a handful of these awesome eyeshadow crayons. I use a light, pearl-y shade across the top of my lashline like a liner, and then have a darker crayon on the rest of the lid, leaving the browbone bare.  (By the way, if you’re still holding onto aged make-up like a hoarder, I wrote a post to walk you through a break-up. It’s right here.)

Brows— I also have given up thin sticks of eyebrow liner for filling in. Never again. I bought some brow mascara and never looked back.

Mascara— Can’t live without it. But to avoid smudge-y raccoon eyes, go for waterproof. You’ll need some make-up remover wipes at the end of the day, but it will be better than dark circles and sweat ruining your look.

Lips

Color— Go for lip stains and tinted balms and gloss instead of heavy, stick-y lipstick. You want a sheer wash of color and that’s it. Don’t worry, you’ll get your creamy matte lipcolors in fall. I’ll write all about them, just for you!

Everyone knows that make-up is one of the most fun things about feminization. But at the end of the day, the whole key to summer make-up is to not look like you’re wearing make-up at all. And who wants to be sitting in front of a make-up mirror all season anyway? Throw some corn on the grill and have a bitchin’ summer already!
