Just because Fall is almost here and my sissies and cross dressers will be packing those pretty summer sandals away doesn’t mean those feet and toes shouldn’t look their best. Even if beauty is hidden under hosiery and closed-toed shoes, there should be something lovely underneath. But what happens if you can’t get to a salon or just can’t afford it? That’s where DIY pedicures come in!

I wrote about doing your own manicure some time ago, but I have never covered the subject of feet. Isn’t it about time I did?

A DIY Pedicure Is Easier Than You Think

First things first (I’m the realest LOL), let’s get the grossness out of the way. If you are dealing with toenail issues that require an antifungal treatment, deal with it asap. Make sure things are cleared up before you infect a bottle of polish or other products with it. Issues like that aren’t good and they aren’t pretty. Also, if you require time in a podiatrist’s office for other issues, don’t tackle those problems by yourself at home. Don’t ignore the health of your feet!

  1. Remove any old polish from toes.
  2. Soak feet in warm water for about 10 minutes. Pat dry, then use a foot file to soften your heels. Rinse feet, and then while your skin is still wet, use an exfoliating scrub to massage the rest of of your feet and your ankles to remove old skin.
  3. Trim nails straight across. No cutting down into the corners or filing your nails into rounds. That’s how the sides of nails get weak and split, resulting painful ingrown toenails.
  4. Use a rich, moisturizing cream to massage your feet, ankles and cuticles of toenails.
  5. Give toenails a quick swipe with polish remover to remove any oily residue from Step 3, and then carefully polish toenails with a pretty color in your favorite sissy shade. Do one base coat, let dry and then do a second coat. Make sure your polish is completely dry and then finish with a shiny top coat!

Wrapping Up

There’s still a little more time to show your pretty pedicured feet off en femme, and let’s not forget those peekaboo toe heels that we sometimes see in winter. Feminine upkeep is all about sexy beauty prep, and I’ve shared some great ideas already. How wonderful to add a pedicure how-to into your DIY beauty arsenal!
