This pandemic has been difficult for everyone and that’s why I wanted to pop in with a throwback post about something super important. This time of year, it becomes a challenge for some folks because of seasonal depression and mental health. In addition to the regular issues that happen around this time, we’ve had alot of stress and anxiety with Covid 19, unemployment challenges, health and personal issues.
Things To Consider
Here’s an excerpt from a previous blog that I hope will help!
- Talk to your Dr.
I never automatically believe that popping pills is the first option. He or she may be able to refer you to a counselor and/or offer healthy options besides medication….or determine if your condition is more than just seasonal. - Keep a journal.
I have kept one for years. Putting feelings to paper or typing thoughts out on your computer can be very therapeutic. Start an online blog under a name that only you know and write in secret if you have to. Just get the feelings out. - Buy a light therapy lamp.
I have a girlfriend that loves hers. When getting natural sunlight just isn’t possible, consider buying one of these amazing machines.
Seriously, look into it. - Don’t neglect YOU.
That means stop eating garbage, stop staying up all night. Eat the food you know you should. Drink water, and don’t deprive your body of the rest and replenishment that it needs. You deserve care. - Get moving.
Too wet and crappy to exercise outside? Go indoors. This is the time that gyms offer all kinds of specials. Or invest in a few good workout DVD’s and turn your living room into your gym. Try dancing DVD’s, yoga, any genre of activity that interests you. - Open your heart.
Rescue an animal and reap the rewards of their love and gratitude. - Find someone to talk to.
Maybe that’s your Mistress, or someone already close to you. Get online and join a forum or group for support. - Tackle a project, set a goal.
Decide you’re going to clean out your closet and then donate all you can. Maybe take a winter class at the local community college. Learn to cook. Something, anything! - Don’t let yourself go.
Don’t let seasonal depression take the joy out of the ‘little things’. Don’t lay around in bed, waiting days between showers. Spend time on yourself. Let nothing take that from you.
That Being Said….
This year has sucked hard but it hasn’t all been bad. I’m going to add one more suggestion in the path to inner peace and less stress and that is to turn OFF the news and don’t get into stupid fights in social media. Listen, people believe how they believe and you’re not going to change anyone’s mind. So don’t even try. Walk away from stupid debates. Do something productive. Take a nap, call a friend, maybe even have an orgasm! Why not?!
There’s alot we can’t control this year but there are still things we can. Take charge to make change! ❤
