When I was young, I thought hats were stupid. My parents would always nag me to wear it and I’d rush out of the house with friends, wearing my hat only to appease them. Of course, I’d tear it off the moment I got outside. It might have been an evening downtown to see a play, go to dinner or hang out with my little squad of girlfriends back then, but I wouldn’t wear that damn hat at all. I’d also often get the sniffles or a scratchy throat few days later.

Cold weather gear has come so far since then and you don’t need to wear a hat with that fat, ugly ball of yarn at the top of your head anymore. Gloves and scarves are much more varied, too. This means that now that the winter winds are blowing, there’s no excuse to not rock some cute looks while staying toasty.

Making A Cold Weather Statement

Hats— I talked about some cute hats for Fall, but those are more for fashion and not for function. Keeping your head warm is the most important thing, so you have all kinds of options. Consider a lined aviator hat with flaps that cover your ears, a slouchy winter beanie, a faux fur hat to help you look simply mah-velous or if you actually love that classic ball on top of your head, that style has come a long way.

Gloves— I just bought a great pair of gloves that have special tips on the fingers so that you can still text and use your phone. Pretty cool! For those of you that want something more ladylike, you’ve got lots of soft, warm and velvety options to keep your hands warm and chill-proof.

Scarves— Scarves can add a feminine touch and styles are as varied as sand on the shore. Just make sure that you you cover your ears to stop the cold wind, and you’ll look like a million bucks!

Bundle Up!

This is the season for colds, flu, the creeping crud and generally feeling like caca if you’re not careful, so make sure you play it safe this winter with some cute cold weather gear!
