The best thing about feminization isn’t the dressing up, although it’s fun! No, when it comes to being a woman, it’s hard to describe. More than just an emotion, it’s like a tapestry weaved within you. Even if it’s not your natural genetic make-up, you are not closed out of knowing what I mean. No matter what anyone tells you, you know who you are. And ladies, if this is resonating with you, it’s because it should.

One of the best things I do at LDW is offer guidance and feminization training. It offers me a chance to not only get to know my callers on a deeper level, but it opens up communication beyond fashion, lip gloss and sex. And the one thing that we can always agree on is the subject that I am discussing today. When it comes to being a woman, the upkeep is tedious and can deplete more than just your energy.

Beyond the trends of fashion and frills….

Advice on how to take care of yourself is everywhere. Stay away from this, eat this and not that, do this everyday and don’t ever do that! We know what we’re supposed to do, but it’s hard to remember everything and be consistent. Too often, there’s not enough time in the day for everything and your energy goes elsewhere because of priorities and commitments. This means you may chip away at yourself and not even realize it, gathering the energy to take care of ‘main’ things while you cut corners on yourself. We can look like a million dollars but feel like forty-five cents. Dear reader, we need to remember that we are ‘the main thing’ and we deserve to nourish ourselves regularly. We are no good to anyone if we’re running on empty and feel like a dried out piece of toast. And holiday time is the perfect time to regroup and think about our commitments. This is a struggle for everyone, crossdresser and non-crossdresser alike.

Taking inventory and forming a battle plan….

Beyond the simple things like fueling your body with good, clean food, exercising and resting enough to maintain health, there is an entire spiritual side to you that may be underdeveloped. ‘Spiritual’ doesn’t necessarily mean religious. Make sure you’re taking the time to sit in complete quiet, away from technology and noise on a daily basis, even if it’s for ten minutes. Everyone has ten minutes! Listen to your breathing, quiet your mind. For some, it’s the only quiet time they have. Do not compromise it.

I have a practice that I do every six months. I have a meeting with myself. I write down things I need to work on and add a few goals I am setting. I also look at my meeting six months prior, and how I did on my old goals. I dream big but I keep it realistic. By doing this, I stay out of ruts, I tackle bad habits and stay ‘in the moment’ about my own progress. Your body is a machine, yes. But your brain, heart and spirit need care just as much as anything else. During the holiday rush of shopping, planning, travel and obligations, pay careful attention to your machine. Because your inner beauty and balance is what people see under your smile, underneath your ‘fabulous’.

What’s under yours?
