Oh, cold weather….how you chill us! But whether it’s just a little wind or an icy gust, it doesn’t have to be your enemy.  Outerwear can be stylish and attractive while still keeping you warm, and your options are not limited. Thanks to the choices that I will detail below, you will have no trouble staying toasty while crossdressing, making a feminine fall fashion statement that won’t be forgotten!

Keep your options open….

There will be coats that you can wear when it’s brisk outside that are not going to do alot of good once it’s freezing. Plan on some classy, styled options for times when you need ‘just a little something’ and an actual, cold weather coat when you need to bundle. Your coat should correspond to your clothing. If you are wearing a sexy, slinky cocktail dress out on the town, do not wear a bulky, puffy coat. Choose something stylish, like a pea coat or a long trench.

Make sure that the coat you are wearing is longer than your dress or skirt. Seeing your clothes peeking out of your coat is not cute and makes you look unkempt. Remember that your clothes speak for you before you even utter a word. You want to feel like you could stop traffic, not get people talking for the wrong reasons.

Consider color and let your personality shine through!

When it comes to coat color, it can really go either way. There’s nothing wrong with bold colors like red, purple and even bright pink. Just make sure that if you select these shades, they are paired with clothing that is more muted and not bright. Personally, I love camel, black, navy, dark browns and grays. Patterns can be fun, but be careful not to clash. Consider not just the coat, but what’s underneath it. Pair patterns with solids, don’t mix plaid and houndstooth. And don’t forget what I said last week about a full-length mirror.

For days that are not very cold, it is perfectly acceptable to wear a stylish vest or a longer, sleeveless coat. Feeling edgy? Leather jackets are always in style and can even be lined for extra warmth. For the super trendy, there are some beautiful wrap-style coats that might really appeal to you. I actually have my eye on a velvet jacket that will look great with jeans and boots.
