Lipstick is a lifesaving manuever. It’s a quick fix, an instant-makeover and a sure thing. Perfectly portable, you can have a shade for day, for evening, for super special occassions and even a shade for sex. Lipstick understands that you might be fickle. Go ahead and cheat on lipstick with other lipstick, it understands. Your multi-shade beauty orgy is to be expected, with all the velvety colors and types available. Stains, glosses, mattes and shimmers….lipstick is. It just is. But how to choose it? Where to start? Grocery store or department store? No need to panic, the Mistress in in. Today, we’ll be talking lipstick. Spring is the perfect time to get a new shade or three for when you’re relaxing en femme, or out in the world.

Lipstick 101 – Find The Best Hue For You

Here are some things I can pass on in your quest for a fabulous shade.

1) We all know that certain things can stain teeth. Smoking, age, coffee and wine are all possible culprits. Look into a whitening toothpaste, and maybe even those whitening strips if you can handle them. (Some people have teeth that are too sensitive.) Drink through a straw whenever you can and don’t let stains sit on teeth after eating. Whiter teeth means a prettier mouth for lips to make a statement, and lipstick is feminization that you can see and feel.

2) You can’t just pick any ole’ lipstick shade willy nilly. There’s a process, people! Look at the veins on the inside of your forearm. If your veins appear blue-ish, you’re a cool tone and if they appear green-ish, you’re a warm tone. Once you find out your tone, you then know what kinds of colors will look great on you! Still unsure on your skin tone?

Sissies and cross dressers experimenting with make-up can tell what tone they are in other ways. Cool tones look better in white clothes, silver jewelery and have pinkish skin. Warm tones look better in cream, gold jewelery and have golden or darker complexions. Olive skin or dark skin can often wear both lipstick shades described below:

Cool tones can wear pink-y rose, berry shades and reds that have a bluish tone. Warm tones can wear pink-y peaches, warmer reds and corals. Both tones can wear nude.
Now, I know there are other shades that are fun to play with. I’ve seen the frosty purples and ‘loud’ colors that people like to try…..all I can say is you only live once. Part of the fun of makeup is experimentation and re-inventing yourself, if just for the day. The guidelines above are going to ensure that you pick what looks best on you. You want to play beyond that? Have at it!

Wrapping Up

There’s nothing that says that you have to sell a kidney to afford your lipstick. I have tubes from grocery stores and mall makeup counters. Over time, you will determine what lasts best for you. I tend to spend the most money on the lipstick that I use for evenings and special times. During the day, I wear a mix of cheap and semi-spendy colors, glosses and grocery store impulse buys. There are even some on the market that are a two-step process that have a color and a top coat, and they last all day. I have lots of those.
So get out there and get lippy! And if you have any questions, know that your feminization Mistress is here to ask!
