We all know which seasons wreak havoc on our hair, skin and health. Unlike the sunkissed glow and abundant Vitamin D that we enjoy in summer, the most important thing about windy rain that turns to snow and ice is staying warm and dry. No one wants wet feet, ruined shoes or illness, so protecting your head and feet is crucial. But crossdressers don’t take time off just because it’s cold and wet! Read on….

Hats, ears, face and gloves….

One of the quickest ways to get sick is to not protect your head and everything attached to it. When bitter winds whip through your ears and chap your lips and nose, you are on the fast track to trouble. That’s why it’s important to explore fashionable options to protect your vital parts.

I love beanies, but have found that they aren’t always the most flattering. Try a Jeep cap, which is just a beanie with a visor, and totally modified to be more feminine. You can find them in all colors, and even the super cute crochet-types will look great on just about anyone! Want something a bit more dramatic? Try a fur hat, especially one that drops over your ears. I’ve seen some that can be paired with basically anything you’re wearing. Just remember, you are going for the ‘Just stepped off the runway’ look, not a ‘I rode a dogsled into town’ look. Great way to keep your head and ears warm at the same time!

Look for scarves that are warm and not just for show. You can easily wrap your nose and mouth in the most snowy conditions, guarding against that bitter wind. I stay toasty every year in my fleece scarves and would never give them up!

In addition to all the hand lotion you’ll be using this winter, consider investing in gloves that will last all season. Some gloves are knitted and look like they’d be warm, but the wind whips right through them. There are actually some great suede options that will help safeguard against that winter weather that can dry us out so easily, and they will look classy peeking out from your warm coat when you’re out en femme.

These boots are made for walkin’….

Remember those rain boots of yesteryear? They’ve been updated and are ready for you to rock them again! Look for bright colors to pair with neutrals and bold shades to liven up everything else. Get ready to puddle-stomp and make a statement the moment you slip your feet inside. Oh, and by the way. You’ll be dry as a bone when everyone else is squeaking and uncomfortable.
