With more and more opening up across the country, it’s nice to see strict quarantine ending. (Let’s hope we don’t see a second wave of it!) But gyms are still closed in many parts of the country and let’s get real. Covid turned many folks into snacking machines that have sat on the sofa for months. So it’s time to get butts in gear. Even if gyms were open, why would you want to be in such close quarters with people yet? Screw that. Get outside for some fresh air and exercise before it gets too hot. You’ll also keep away from others, and that’s still kinda the goal right now.

Throwback Tips To Use Right Now
Here’s an excerpt from my blog Summer Exercise And Hot Weather Tips that I wrote in June 2016. This is good advice that bears repeating!
- Don’t over-do it when starting outside. Begin with a 15-20 min sweat session and work up from there.
- Avoid working up a sweat outdoors from 1 pm-5 pm, in the heat of the day.
- Stay hydrated. Your pee shouldn’t have any color. If it does, drink up!
- Look for words like ‘mesh’ and/or ‘moisture-wicking’ when looking for some sexy exercise gear. There are some cute clothes available when working out en femme! Don’t wear too much black. It will attract heat.
- Wear a ball cap to protect your face from the sun. And if you have a pony tail to pull through the back, super cute bonus!
- Don’t ignore sunscreen on exposed skin areas or think that it’s a hassle because you’ll be sweating. Make sure you smear some on your ears and neck, too.
- Plan you workouts depending on the time of day. Pick early morning hours before it’s too hot for cardio, and easier workout activities after 5 pm.
- Losing salt through sweat can contribute to exhaustion, so make sure you replenish your sodium and potassium levels with workout snacks like yogurt and pumpkin seeds or a banana with some salted nuts.
- Listen to that body. If you start feeling sick or dizzy during your warm weather outdoor workout, take a break. Get to a shady spot and have your phone and water with you if you need it.
Move It And Groove It
If you just can’t bear to go outside and show those neighbors of yours that sexy spandex ass, there are tons of workouts on YouTube that you can work that body to in your very own living room. The goal is to start feeling like your old self again. Be thankful you’re not my friend CJ who dances for a living. The girls there were not allowed to gain more than 3 lbs since this whole thing started because clubs could open at any time and they have to be ready to go back to work!
As always, take care and be safe. See you next week!
