A scent can stir up feelings, get you nostalgic or get you thinking naughty thoughts. Sometimes a scent will be a trademark, like my Grandmother who has been wearing the same perfume for over 50 years. Other times, scents can be interchanged, seasonal, just a fad or part of a rotation. Fragrances are deliciously feminine and what I wouldn’t give to go back in time to see what amazing fragrances were on the vanity tables of some of the most beautiful women that are some of our feminine icons today!
My Fragrance Changes With The Season…
In spring and summer, a lot of people like clean fragrances with sea salty, beachy scents. A friend of mine got me into a few Ed Hardy fragrances a few months ago that have lately been my go-to for every day. During the cooler months, I’ve also been known to rock some Jo Malone Nectarine and Honey Blossom on special occasions only because it’s super pricey. During the fall and winter, my scents always get dark and deep. I love perfumes with sandalwood, rose, jasmine or orchid in them. Fragrances are very personal. They can lift your mood or transport you. They are also one of the finishing touches to a great outfit!
Picking Your Fragrance Is Easy…
Here’s a throwback excerpt from that previous fragrance blog, dated April 20, 2016. The season is shifting, so it might be time to try something new!
Floral— Are you romantic, sensitive, feminine and sweet? Do you live for spring, love romantic comedies and prefer a gift of fresh flowers over wine? Look for scents of rose, jasmine, lily, violet, and lavender.
Fruity— Some of us wish it was summer all year long. If you’re spontaneous and a free spirit, explore delicious fragrances that can awaken the senses. Organic is not basic! Go for fresh citrus, pear, peach, and apple.
Woody— If you love fall and the outdoors, get close to nature with woody scents that are edgy and earthy. Explore sandalwood, patchouli, cedar, vanilla and musks that blend with body oils for a second skin. Perfect for those whose lifestyles do not allow for sweet, feminine fragrance, get that Woodstock hippie stereotype out of your head. Woody fragrances can be quite feminine and smell amazing.
Oriental/Spicy— If you’re fascinated with travel and adventure, adore wintertime and rich, warm colors, go for alluring scents of clove, cinnamon, chocolate, amber or rose. The perfect fragrance for strappy stiletto en femme evenings, oriental fragrances are vibrant and seductive.
Ocean— Beach babes love the sea and resonate with anything clean, relaxing and light. Ocean scents are often androgynous and calm, but never boring. If you live for salty air and sand in your shoes, choose lime, white freesia, mint, and citrus.
And as always, happy shopping!
I’ve been using Ralph Lauren midnight romance perfume along with their lotion as well Japanese cherry blossom mists/lotion and Donna Karan cashmere perfume. My masseuse is using perfumes/lotions on my massages and for facials keeping me smelling girlish. I did put the midnight romance perfume/lotion on me when I went to dinner with my masseuse/new gf but they didn’t notice or say anything ????????. Should I have used more perfume to have them notice? My masseuse said I need to tell her I wear women’s clothes/bra/panties/lipsticks/makeup as she may already know and suspect this. New gf did say she wants to make me more well rounded and telling her this would raise her eyebrows but I think I need to as we’ve been friends for 5 years and have been doing non tennis activities as she did she say wants to know more about me off the courts. I do want her to take control of me but I don’t think she’s interested. But with her interest in knowing more about me I feel telling her this hopefully will turn her on and she can wrap me around her fingers. What’s your take on flowerbomb?
I’ve never smelled it. It’s a lovely bottle, though!
Ms Amber, scent can be a powerful thing in regulating, or deregulating, our mood. Sissies need to experiment and see which scent makes them feel feminine and sexy. I think all of us should spend some time getting better acquainted with their own nose.
Exactly, Miss Cindy!
