I remember when the busy, stuffy office I used to work for hired a very non-stuffy woman and made her the head of my department. She brewed coffee in a french press on her desk and sat on one of those exercise balls when the rest of us had chairs. When others were leaving for the day, we said ‘Goodbye’ and she said ‘Namaste’. And she often held meetings outside, where we squinted to see her in the glare of a Portland sun. She was a fan of stretching before a shift and was a little bit eccentric. I loved her. She seemed to literally draw power from the outdoors. It was good for her, and it was good for me. Sissies and cross dressers reading this can benefit from this very thing now that Spring is upon us!

Outdoor Workouts For Sissies

We all know that exercise is good for us even though we may not do it. But we should do it! Workout DVD’s and gyms have their place, but there’s something about a sun in the sky and a breeze on your cheek. And now that we’re going to soon see better weather, we all need to consider not only exercising for physical and mental health, but doing it outdoors. It’s just another way to keep your fabulously feminine self well-balanced.

Maybe jump rope on your back patio, or climb a set of stairs at your apartment complex. Visit a park and do sprints or ride a bike all around town. Have access to a pool? Go for it. Walking trail nearby? Pack a snack. Maybe even start a yoga routine in the backyard as the sun sets every day. For me, I never take elevators or escalators, even in the mall. Stairs are always right there and so much better for me. I also park as far away from an entrance as possible so I have to walk across a parking lot (never at night, though). My all-time favorite workout is walking in sand. That beach will kick your ass, and it’s great cardio!

There are lots of ways to work things into a healthy routine, and Spring is the perfect time for it. Sometimes I just don’t want to go outside and I tell myself that if I just lace up my shoes and get out there, if I still hate it after 10 min, I’ll stop and go back in. But I never stop and go back in. Being outside is energizing. Get yourself some girly outfits, maybe even some Spring-inspired pastel tops with cute yoga pants. Just make sure it’s something you’ll enjoy working out in. Breathe deeply and take it in. Let yourself squint in the sun. Maybe wave to the neighbors as you pass and don’t let it make you self-conscious if people look or stare. They’re probably wishing they had your motivation!
