Eating casually alone or in informal settings with friends often makes us lazy and forget our manners. You may love lounging on the sofa with a plate or a bowl of something in your hands while you watch tv, but because this series is about feminization, this blog is all about feminine dining in public, whether it be at a restaurant or a private home dinner party. Some of these are common sense, and some may be a brush-up or completely new. But all of these are excellent points to know and practice in the presence of others. Proper manners are classy, which is exactly what real ladies are.

Feminine at the table

If you have more than one type of utensil, use the ones on the outside first and work your way in.
If you’re at a private home and the table is improperly set, it’s offensive to rearrange your place setting, although acceptable to do this in a restaurant.

If you’re in a restaurant and ready to order, close the menu and place it in front of you instead of flagging someone down.

Feminine sitting and behavior

Sit up straight. If you’re not in a high-backed chair, still sit as if you were.

Lipstick is the only cosmetic that you may be able to apply at the table, although there is a rule. Go ahead if you are with friends and/or in a non-business situation. Don’t do it if you’re at a business meal or with people you don’t know very well.

No leaning, tipping your chair, fidgeting or elbows on the table.

Keep your eating pace to those seated with you. Do not rush eating or be the slowest eater at the table.

If you are leaving the table for any reason, always say ‘Excuse me.’

Eating

There are definite differences in how men and women eat. When out en femme, think ‘soft, light, graceful and pretty’ when reaching, chewing, and sipping.

Wait until everyone has their food before you eat. If you are unsure of how to eat something, watch others before you begin.

Do not encircle your plate with your arm. Not only does it look odd, it would also mean you are leaning, hunched or in an unnatural position.

Hold wine glasses by the stem, not the actual cup.

If you’re eating anything in a bowl (soup, pudding, ice cream, etc), spoon the food away from you before lifting it to your mouth. Do not blow on hot soup, stir instead.

Soak up gravy or sauce with bread at the end of a fork, and eat the same way.

Chew your bite competely and swallow before sipping your beverage unless you have food lodged in your throat.

Going forth in femininity

As your feminization Mistress, I want to envision all of you with lovely manners, enjoying your friends, feeling feminine no matter what you’re wearing and embodying what you know to be elegant, polite and beautiful. Just like the iconic film stars we spoke of in the beginning of this series, channel them in everything you do. They conducted themselves with grace, wit and beauty. These feminine ladies existed so that we could love them, yes, but learn from them as well.
